Professional Athletic Sports Massage is a massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function. Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage, a bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Manual Ligament Therapy

Manual Ligament Therapy, LMT, 

Manual Ligament Therapy (MLT) is a new and original technique created by Arik Gohl.  Arik discovered a way to manipulate ligaments that allows our muscles to relax and almost completely “let go” of the tension held within.

What the research says: Research has revealed that ligaments feed the brain with more proprioceptive information about joints than muscles and tendons.  We have learned that ligaments are a significant source of pain, especially in cases of chronic pain.  Until injured ligaments can heal from their underlying dysfunction, muscles will remain in a tense and guarded state.

MLT stimulates cells in our ligaments called mechanoreceptors.  By gently stimulating these cells, we are able to manipulate their sensory output to the muscles, tendons and fascia.  The end result is a dramatic reduction in tension.

MLT is so gentle it can be used even in the most acute cases.  You should experience no pain whatsoever with this technique

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness. The client and therapist work together during the LD with slow, gentle pressure, and rhythmatic movement stimulating lymph vessel contraction to reduce edema. 

The sessions will be in a series of approximately four to five days continuing with each quarter of the body as needed. The series would be discussed during the initial intake between client and therapist. There will also be a request from the therapist for physician release if surgery was previously conducted. 

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial Cupping is an ancient therapy, first documented over 5,000 years ago, clearly Olympic and professional athletes have gotten the message that "what’s old is still new!"  Though cups and techniques have changed over time, today’s cups still create a suction and vacuum that allows for a decompression effect to take place under the skin. I am trained with RockTape Silicon Myofascial cups. I use them during massage session to assist with release of muscle tightness and can use in conjunction with the RockTape Kinesiology Tape.

IASTM

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization or Simply IASTM is a new range of tool which enables clinicians to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction. The technique itself is said to be a modern evolution from Traditional Chinese Medicine called Gua Sha.However Gua Sha was not used to treat Musculoskeletal conditions but was traditionally applied along meridians to move the bad chi out through the skin.IASTM is a is a procedure that is rapidly growing in popularity due to its effectiveness and efficiency while remaining non-invasive,with its own indications and limitations.

IASTM is performed with ergonomically designed instruments that detect and treat fascial restrictions, encourage rapid localization and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration. As in any manual therapy treatment ,supplementation with exercises and additional modalities should be used in conjunction with IASTM.

You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location.
